Have you noticed when something emotional is going on for you, you can locate the physical sensation in your body?
For example, when you feel nervous, can you feel the “butterflies” in your tummy. When you feel love, can you feel your heart “warmed” or even feeling in love, your heart melting? I just love those “melting” moments!
Noticing what you are feeling and where in your body you feel it, at any situation, can give you the answers to why you react to things the way you do.
Here’s a look into a scenario – previously, if I was challenged adversley about something that I had done and especially that there was no ill intention about it, my solar plexis region would just curdle. My “self-worth” would be taking a hit from whatever comment/s were made.
So, what does this mean now? The question I ask is, “Why am I taking a “hit” from this?” “Where has this come from for me to react this way?” It would be a good start to look at major events that occured in either my first 5-7 years, 8ish – 14 years and 14 to early 20,s.
So, I know this may sound crazy, however, it was real for me. My parents divorced when I was 10 years old and I made that mean, “I am not good enough.”
This story has allowed me to make some crazy decisions, not particularly in the best care for myself for a good part of my life. Does this give anyone any insight? I would love for you to share your “story?”
